TEACHERS AND CHILDRENS' DAY CELEBRATIONS 2017


The teachers and childrens’ day celebrations were a sequence of 3 day activities.

A speech was delivered by Mrs. Padmalatha Kelanibandara, a senior teacher, who highlighted the importance of making relevant use of childhood years at the relevant time is essential enough to save adulthood years in happiness. The cheerful mood of the celebrations proceeded on the 3rd of October 2017 with a highly entertaining magic show staged on with illusionary tricks, juggling and hallucinary acts of appearing and disappearing of objects which was viewed in two sessions. On the dawn of 4th of October, Good Shepherd Convent, Kandy officially celebrated the Childrens’ and Teachers day.

Students representing each grade assembled at the Basket Ball Court with flowers and tokens of appreciation which were presented to each teacher. Their cheerful faces represented love, warmth and respect towards their teachers. The programme began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharistic Mass celebrated at the Main Hall by Rev. Fr. Shanthi Abeysinghe, who also preached on the importance of children and the commitment endeavoured by the teachers on behalf of students. The stage was alive with song, dance and music performed by students in appreciation of teachers.

A drama staged by grade 12-13’s highlighted the importance of excellent teaching skills, which are capable of building creative abilities of students, was appreciated by the audience. Finally, teachers assembled at the Primary Hall to exchange a small token brought by each teacher to signify the fellowship, unity and the immense effort laid, by each of them on behalf of each student.
