Western Brass Band

The Band was originally formed in 1969 with just 29 players, under the guidance of Rev. Sister Cecelia. The first sets of instruments were two side drums, a bass drum, melodicas and accordions. Today the band boasts of a membership of and the instruments include. At present the band consists of 35 members.
The band won 1st place at the Inter-school western band competition and in 1979 was adjudged the Best Band in the Kandy district at the Independence Parade. The band continues to perform at the Annual Prize Giving, the Sports Meet, Independence Day Celebrations and other major events in the school.

'Esperanza' the first band show organized by the senior western brass band was held on the 12th of March 2010 at the Dharmaraja College Auditorium with invited schools participating. The band was ably assisted by Mr. Madduma Bandara and Ms. Thilani Jayasundera, the teachers-in-charge of the band.

The Band won 2nd place at all island level at the show organized by the Past Prefects' Association, Kandy.
