The Tamil Cultural Day was held on the 28th of July 2017 at the School Main Hall.
Dr. Mrs. Sothimalar Theavar a Phd., holder in Tamil; Senior Lecturer at the University of Peradeniya, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Very Rev. Fr. Milroy Fonseka the Vicar General and Manager of Catholic Schools of Kandy Diocese, Rev. Fr. Bala Rajendran and Rev. Fr. Susainathan, the Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church, Katugastota were among the guests of honour.
Worshiping the cultures was a unique theme which was presented in the form of Poetry, song, dance, drama and other performances.
The welcome dance “Pushpanjali”, with the fragrance of flowers, the colourfully attired students of grade 6 and 7 depicted the opening of a great event.
The thematic meaning blended into the vibrant and colourful events which proceeded in various forms.
“Panchali”, adopted from the world famous epic poem, “Mahabaratha”, staged by the students of grade 13; “Bardhan”, a Bangara folk dance and a folk song called “Karnatik” (Varnam), by grades 6-10 students were events which highlighted the different thematic infusions of separate performances which were done in order to unite people through means of culture.
Finally, the magazine “Kalarthana”, a collection of young creativity was launched by Rev. Sr. Principal, Chandrika Perera.
The distribution of ISO certificates issued for the best performances, including the Zonal and Provincial events brought the glamorous occasion to an end.
