On the 20th of November 2024, Good Shepherd Convent Kandy hosted its inaugural Inter-House Games Day at the Kandy Municipal Council Indoor Stadium, an exciting new addition to the school calendar, initiated by the Principal, Rev. Sr. Sudarika Fernando, with the aim of promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students.

The day featured a range of competitive events across various sports, including Basketball, Netball, Table Tennis, Karate, Chess, and Gymnastics. Students from the five houses showcased their skills and determination, creating an atmosphere of friendly rivalry and enthusiasm.

The event was graced by Mr. Athula Jayawardana, Director of Sports at the Provincial Department of Education, who was the chief guest. In his inspiring speech, Mr. Jayawardana encouraged students to engage in sports and highlighted the importance of physical activity in fostering discipline and leadership skills.

After an intense evening of sports, the Overall Championship Trophy was awarded to St. Helenas, in recognition of their outstanding performance across multiple events. The Day will undoubtedly become a cherished annual tradition at Good Shepherd Convent Kandy.
